US President Joe Biden said that the Supreme Court’s decision to repeal the constitutional right to abortion will deprive American women of the right to control their own bodies.

“This is a sad day for the court and the country,” Biden said in a speech to the White House. He called the Supreme Court ruling “cruel” and said America is going back 150 years.

He called on Congress to pass legislation to restore abortion rights and for voters to elect legislators and heads of state to protect those rights.

Biden said his administration would protect the right of women to cross state borders to perform abortions, as well as take steps to make medicines widely available for abortion.

“State laws prohibiting abortion automatically come into force today,” said Biden, who called some of the laws “so extreme that women can be punished for their own health” and “forced to raise their own abusive children.”

The United States Supreme Court has overturned the federal constitutional right to abortion.

A few weeks earlier, Politico released an initial document outlining information about the alleged repeal of the well-known federal-constitutional right to abortion by Roe v Wade.

Depending on the decision made, individual states will be able to individually decide whether or not to allow an abortion procedure.

It is expected that half of the US states will introduce new restrictions or prohibitions in their constitutions. But also, several Democratic governors, including California, New Mexico and Michigan, have already announced that they will include the right to abortion in their constitutions after the repeal of Roe v Wade.

The bill is a rejection of a 1973 ruling (Roe v. Wade) in which a court ruled that the United States Constitution protects the freedom of pregnant women to choose abortion without the undue restriction of authority.

In 1992, the Supreme Leader of the United States reaffirmed the view that a woman’s right to choose abortion is constitutionally protected. It also abolished the strict control standard for the revision of abortion restrictions.
