Tbilisi: Tinatin Rukhadze, the cultural minister of Georgia visited the old film studio building at Davit Agmashenebeli Avenue. The minister inspected the studio, which is being renovated with the ministry’s efforts and assistance.
It is worth noting that since assuming the charge as cultural minister, many new projects have been launched by minister. At the same time, renovation work of many old buildings is in full swing.
Notblay on the Ministry of Culture initiative, the works are actively underway in many areas from 2022. At this stage the complete rehabilitation of the administrative building is nearing its end. We remind you that on the second floor of the building, office space for the National Cinema Center was arranged in September.
It is important to note that since 2022, infrastructural works have been carried out in the territory of the old film studio. The rehabilitation work includes the complete rehabilitation of a former film building and a doll’s house and 300 square meters of the former fire service.
The two-story building was completely renovated and housed a cinematography casting company, a photography workshop, puppeteers and a traditional blue table show-room. Moreover two mosaic panels were brought from the Rustavi autodrome and placed in the territory of the old film studio.
A new exhibition space was organized and handed over to the Art Academy for management. The construction of a new building on the site of the former wood workshop began in 2023 and will be completed at the end of this year. In 2024, it will created as a multifunctional art space with a cinema hall for 100 spectators and exhibition spaces.
In 2024, the dilapidated part of the former multi-studio building was demolished to save and rehabilitate two historic cinema pavilions built in the 1920s.
The strengthening and renovation work of the former laboratory building started in 2023 and will be completed in 2025. Improvement of storage and spaces for five theatres began in 2024 and was completed in August as well.
