After PM, Speaker criticizes the visit of European MP to Georgia

The Speaker of Parliament of Georgia, Shalva Papuashvili has refused to meet the members of parliament from eight European countries.

The Speaker of Parliament of Georgia, Shalva Papuashvili has refused to meet the members of parliament from eight European countries. They are visiting Georgia to support the protesters demanding re-election.

While criticizing the visit, the speaker refused to meet the member of the visiting delegation as well. He said this is a total violation of Georgian rules and regulations. He said all of these member parliaments are opening campaigning against the ruling party of Georgia, namely the Georgian Dream.

It is worth noting that a delegation from European countries arrived in the capital, Tbilisi on Monday. Most European countries have criticized Georgian Dream for violating Georgia’s election code.

The speaker took to his social media handles and disclosed his intention not to meet with the visiting delegation. As per the official Twitter page of the Speaker , “the visiting delegation have been demanding to meet all officials of Georgian political parties. Moreover, we will not allow anyone to interfere in internal matters of the Republic of Georgia.”

Speaker also blamed some members of this delegation for launching false propaganda in Georgia to defame the Georgian Dream, the ruling party of Georgia. This will not only affect the Georgian Dream but also affect the image of the whole nation worldwide.

According to the Speaker of the Georgian Parliament, “ The landslide victory of Georgian Dream in an election held last month, October 26 has made it clear that Georgian people are not in Favor of any external interference. Moreover, they have also rejected all anti-nation and anti-public agenda of opposition parties against the leadership of Georgian Dream.”

The delegation members attended the protest rally in the Capital city of Tbilisi. Notably the members of the visiting delegation include the Deputy Marshal of the Senate of the Republic of Poland Erik Ottoson, Sweden ,Chair of the Committee on European Union Affairs Marko Mihkelson.

It also includes the names of the Chair of the Foreign Affairs Committee Žygimantas Pavilionis, Lithuania, and Deputy Speaker, Jukka Kopra, Finland. Chair of Defence Committee; Frédéric Petit, France, Deputy Chair of European Affairs Committee, National Assembly;  Michael Roth, Germany,  Chair of European Affairs Committee;  Michał Kamiński, Poland.
