Georgia: The first meeting of the Advisory Council on Health Promotion and Prevention of Diseases in the Georgian Parliament, in Adjara on June 23, 2025, on Monday. The Meeting was attended by the Minister of Health and Social Welfare of Adjara, Nino Nizharadze.
The Ministry of Health and Social Affairs of Adjara shared glimpses of the meeting on its official Facebook page on June 24, 2025, Tuesday. The Ministry also shared some details of the meeting along with its photographs.
According to the details provided by the Ministry, it should be noted that at the meeting, representatives of the National Center for Disease Control and Public Health talked about the process of preventing lead poisoning and implementing a bullet-resistant surveillance system.
According to Minister Nino Nizharadze, in Adjara, the lead content is being determined in pregnant and lactating women, the program is implemented by the Adjara Public Health Center, and all medical institutions, that implement the state antenatal program are involved in the process.
It is also noteworthy that the members of the Advisory Council were also provided with information on the implementation of the National Strategy for Prevention and Control of Non-Communicable Diseases in Georgia 2023-2030 and the Action Plan 2023-2025.
As noted at the meeting, the topics to be discussed are defined by the 2025 action plan of the Committee on Health and Social Affairs and Social Affairs, and the Committee will present thematic reports on these issues in different formats.
The Council members heard a presentation about salt consumption and its role in reducing cardiovascular disease.
The meeting of the Consultative Council was attended by the First Deputy Minister of Refugees, Labor, Health and Social Protection Irakli Sasania, UNICEF Representative in Georgia Jesper Moeller, and medical specialists.
