The first Youth Olympic Festival of Georgia was opened in Batumi on June 3, 2026, Wednesday. The opening ceremony was attended by the Chairman of the Adjara Government, Zurab Pataradze, Chairman of the Region’s High Council, Tsotne Ananidze, as well as representatives of central, local, and regional governments.
The participants were addressed by the Chairman of the Adjara Government, the President of the National Olympic Committee of Georgia, the Minister of Sport of Georgia, and the Chairman of the Organizing Committee of the Youth Olympic Festival.
The Prime Minister noted that the Georgian Youth Olympic Festival is an important sporting event that promotes the development of sports and youth participation.
The Chairman noted, “It is an honor for us to host this large-scale sports holiday – the Georgian Youth Olympic Festival. This is an important event for both our region and the whole country.” “Today, several teams and sports organizations are choosing Georgia and Adjara to hold sports meetings and important competitions,” he added.
“I am sure that the festival will be an unforgettable experience for young people; it will allow them to make new friends, gain valuable experience, and believe in their abilities even more,” said Zurab Pataradze.
About 1200 athletes from all regions of Georgia are participating in the festival, who will compete in 17 sports. During the event, the flag of the National Olympic Committee of Georgia was solemnly raised by Olympians, world and European champions, and prize-winning athletes. The Olympic oath ceremony was also held, and Georgia’s national anthem was performed.
The Georgian Youth Olympic Festival is organized by the initiative of the National Olympic Committee of Georgia and with the support of the Georgian Government. Active supporters of the festival are the Adjara Government, the Adjara Ministry of Education and Sports, the Batumi City Hall, and the Ministry of Sports of Georgia.
An unprecedented nationwide multisport event provides an important platform for young people to showcase their abilities and gain sporting experience in a competitive environment.
