The Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, Mariam Kvrivishvili, together with high-ranking representatives of Azerbaijan, Romania, and the Hungarian governments, participated in the 12th Ministerial Meeting under the “Green Energy Corridor“. The event was held in Azerbaijan’s capital, Baku.
The Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia shared glimpses of the 12th Ministerial Meeting under the “Green Energy Corridor” on its official Facebook Page on July 8, 2026, Wednesday. The Georgian Ministry of Economy also shared a small note about the meeting along with its glimpses.
At the 12th Ministerial Meeting, the parties approved the main reports of the technical-economic research, which resulted in the completion of the technical-economic research of the “Green Energy Corridor” project. Also, a detailed action plan was developed to determine the future steps of the project.
As the Minister noted, the sides discussed the possibilities available and the region’s growing role in strengthening energy security in the EU.
“Georgia and Azerbaijan continue to work closely to ensure that in the context of the Green Corridor, as well as the prospects of energy reforms in our countries and sector development in general, we will ensure that we can join forces while contributing to strengthening the energy security of the EU. During the meeting, we had the opportunity to talk thoroughly about Georgia’s energy policy and about the ten-year plan that the Georgian government has developed for the development of the sector. Our task is to ensure that investments are attracted in this sector to make
Georgia, first of all, become self-sufficient in terms of electricity generation, but on the other hand, we pay a lot of attention to increasing the export potential of our energy resource,” said Mariam Kvrivishvili.
Within the framework of Ghonisidzebi, the parties addressed the EU institutions with a joint letter, emphasizing the strategic importance of the project and the necessity of continuing cooperation for its development.
