Tbilisi: A special event “Georgian Diplomacy Week” was opened in Caucasus International University Yesterday. The week-long event will discuss various aspects of Georgian diplomacy and its role in maintaining international relations of Georgia.
It is worth noting that Diplomacy Day is celebrated every year on November 3 in the Republic of Georgia. However this year the day has become controversial due to protest over foreign agent law. The president said she could not congratulate Georgians on Diplomacy Day as diplomats have failed to resist the ruling government’s anti-people policies.
The event at Caucasus International University will underline the problems diplomats face in their daily work. The university shared information about the event on its official social media handles.
According to the university’s official Facebook page,”Georgian Diplomacy Week” was opened at Caucasus International University on November 4. The series of events organized by the Faculty of Social and Humanities / Continuing Education and Career Development Service is dedicated to the Day of Georgian Diplomacy.
It also stated that at the first lecture of the week, Grigol Magrakvelidze, Deputy Director of the Department of Human Resources Management of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia, presented to the audience the topic “Diplomatic Service and Career Steps.”
The speaker introduced the audience to the functions and tasks of the diplomatic service, regulatory legislation, the structure of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia, career stages in the diplomatic service, professional development and employment opportunities and at the end of the meeting, he answered the audience’s questions.
It is to be added that before the lecture, the acting dean of the Faculty of Social and Humanities of the Caucasus International University, Ekaterine Chalaganidze and the deputy dean, the head of the international relations undergraduate program, Alika Guchua welcomed the speaker and the audience.
Notably November 3 was established as a professional holiday for Georgian diplomats in 2004 and is connected with the birthday of the famous Georgian writer and public figure, Sulkhan-Saba Orbeliani. The University observes this week every year to discuss the scope and challenges of Georgian diplomacy.
