Tbilisi: German wine journalists, bloggers, and sommeliers visited Georgia recently. The visit was organized with the financial support of the National Wine Agency and its contractor, the German marketing company “ff.k Public Relations.”
The members of the visiting media delegation visited more than 10 Georgian wine-producing companies and cellars in Kartli and Kakheti over four days. During their visit they also tasted different types Georgian wine and gave their reviews and share experience as well.
The famous social media influencer and sommelier Toni Askitis (Toni Askitis) is also part of this visiting group. This group used to convey news and trends in the field of wine on his popular channel, Asktoni. He used to post his stories about wines on his YouTube channels.
This year in March one of the largest wine and alcoholic beverage exhibitions in the world was held in Germany under the framework of ProWein Dusseldorf. The Dusseldorf city of Germany hosted this exhibition successfully.
Moreover Tony Askitis held three professional presentation-tastings at the event of “Georgian Wine Day.” Tony Askitis talked about the variety of Georgian wines and emphasized the uniqueness of Kvevari wine.
Georgia is known as the cradle of wine-making. On the other hand, Germany is the largest importer of wine in Europe, was added to the list of Georgian wine markets in 2020 and has steadily gained a place in the top ten export countries.
Similarly from January to August of this year, 811 thousand liters of wine were exported from Georgia to Germany which is an increase of more than 37% compared to the same period last year.
In order to promote Georgian wine and increase its export potential, the National Wine Agency started cooperating with the German company “ff.k Public Relations” in 2021 and is working to promote Georgian wine.
The active promotion campaign continues this year as well. The Georgian wine agency hosts a number of events every year to promote Georgian Wine across the globe. Social media influencers upload stories and short videos about Georgian wine, which makes it more popular.
