Georgia: The Finance Minister of Georgia Lasha Khutsishvili met with the President of the Asian Development Bank, Masato Kanda. They both met during a working meeting held on May 5, 2025, Monday.
The Ministry of Finance of Georgia shared glimpses of the meeting on its Official Facebook Page. The Ministry also shared a small note along with the snippets.
According to the details provided by the Finance Ministry, it should be noted that the Deputy Minister Ekaterine Guntsadze also participated in the meeting from the Georgian side.
Moreover, the parties reviewed the issues of cooperation between Georgia and the Asian Development Bank during the meeting. Minister Lasha Khutsishvili once again congratulated Masato Kanda on his appointment as President of ADB in February of this year. He also wished him success in his work.
The conversation touched on Georgia’s progress in recent years and the importance of high economic growth and stable macroeconomic parameters. Also, in different sectors of the economy, bank-supported projects have contributed to the growth of the country’s economy.
Further, the President of the Bank emphasized Georgia’s important role in the context of regional and multilateral cooperation and expressed hope that the history of successful cooperation between Georgia and the Asian Development Bank will continue in the future.
According to his statement, the Asian Development Bank represents the country’s important partner International Financial Institute. The bank’s investment, in 2007, since the day Georgia joined it, exceeded 5 billion US dollars.

The sides talked about bilateral cooperation. The Minister of Finance briefed the Bank’s Executive Director on the current state of the country’s economy and ongoing projects supported by the Bank.
Once again, the importance of Georgia’s participation in the Asian Development Fund as a donor was emphasized at the meeting. Specifically, Rachel Thompson expressed her readiness to continue the partnership with the country in different directions.
