The students of 8th grade from Tbilisi Public School No. 207 visited the National Statistical Service. This was part of educational trip aimed to provide exposure to students beyond academic life.
The school students during the visited to the National Statistical Service visited the Statistics Museum of Georgia. The museum houses photo materials and computing equipment depicting the hundred-year history of the agency.
On this special occasion the children also learned about the general principles of Geostat’s work and the century-old history of the agency. It is worth to note that as per tradition Geostatic Executive Director Gogita Todradze introduced the students to children’s portal, “Statistics for Children and Adolescents”, designed specifically for their age category.
At the same time, she talked about interesting and entertaining statistical facts, filled out cognitive quizzes with them and presented them with a commemorative certificate. The commemorative certificates are given to children to encourage them about careers in agency after they finished their study also.
As Gogita Todradze noted, the goal of the interactive portal is to provide children and young people with statistical information in an interesting and entertaining way.
It is also worth noting that the portal will significantly help children and adolescents to deepen their knowledge in the field of statistics, improve their skills in correctly perceiving information and analytical thinking, to be more informed about children’s rights and make evidence-based decisions.
The students with their participation also found the information on demography, education, agriculture, and other statistical data interesting. Geostatic plans to hold similar educational events for children and adolescents in the future.
On the other hand, students while sharing their views said that this was a very helpful visit. They expressed their gratitude to school managements as well agency official for providing them this wonderful opportunity as well.
The many school students are given the opportunity to visit various historic and educational sites. These visits enhance their knowledge as well as relieve their stress also.
