University of Georgia to host seminar on journalism

The university of Georgia on March 10 is all set to organises a seminar of journalism. The report of this seminar will he held for students of journalism of different classes.

Tbilisi: The university of Georgia on March 10 is all set to organises a seminar of journalism. The report of this seminar will he held for students of journalism of different classes.

This important seminar will be organized by the School of Social Sciences, on March 10. As per the sources of university who are familiar with study of journalism said this workshop will be held for the students of the Journalism Program of the University of Georgia, whose aim will be to share Western standards and principles in journalism with participants.

It is worth to note that lecture will be delivered on different topics of importance. The lecture on “Interviewing Techniques” Nadia Wisser, Director of the International Association of Journalists of Europe and Professor at the University of Antwerp will be given at auditorium N805, Start – 11:30.

Another seminar namely “AI journalism and creation of data-based journalistic products” – Frederic Maren, professor at the Free University of Antwerp and Brussels will be delivered at auditorium N301, start – 11:30.

Organized by the School of Social Sciences, the University of Georgia will host a workshop on March 10 for Journalism Program students, focusing on sharing Western journalism standards and principles so that students can know international standards of journalism.

The seminar will also highlight challenges being faced by the journalists and other people who are associated with the field of media in Georgia. It is also to be noted that since the growth of social media has profoundly impacted journalism not just in Georgia but in world.

Some of major social media websites such as Twitter and Facebook enable direct engagement between journalists and the public to bring transparency in their working.

At the same time, it (social media) has empowered citizen journalists, allowing ordinary people to capture and share events as they unfold, sometimes breaking news faster than traditional outlets.

But in this world if limitless information the rapid dissemination of information also comes with the risk of spreading misinformation, as unverified content circulates quickly, often without proper fact-checking which created controversy.
