A public lecture on use of artificial intelligence in the health sector was recently held at Kutaisi International University. Mikheil Sarjveladze the health minister of Georgia attended the event.
The Ministry of Health with the cooperation of Kutaisi International University organised the lecture. Robert Kreutzbauer a professor at Stavanger University Business School shared his international experience on the topic.
He also explained how AI can revolutionise health services. During this special public lecture he shared the scope for such a possibility with the guests and the medical community.
The event was opened by the Minister of Health Mikheil Sarjveladze. In his opening remarks he focused on the implementation of modern approaches in the health system. He also underlined that using artificial intelligence tools in healthcare management will contribute to a maximum increase in the efficiency and productivity of health organisations.
The event also highlighted the regional importance of Kutaisi International University and its Hadronic Therapy Centre. The centre being built on the university’s campus with the financing of the International Charitable Foundation “Kartu” and it is a source of pride for the region.
It is worth noting that within the project’s framework two proton therapy centres which will include accelerators or cyclotrons will be established in the University. One of them will fully help in the treatment of cancerous diseases and the other will be used for fundamental research in the field of nuclear physics and high energies.
The Kutaisi Hadronic Therapy Centre is planned to open in 2026. The world’s leading company IBA has already installed the ultra-modern cyclotrons. IBA is a known company that manufactures proton therapy equipment for cancer diseases.
The health minister also apprised the attendees of how the ministry is working to provide world-class health services to citizens. At the end of the lecture the University’s Rector thanked the Minister for his esteemed presence on this special occasion.
